An early view of the base of the Perisphere. Support columns were covered with mirrors and a ring of fountains surrounded the base to give the illusion the Perishpere was floating. As shown here, at first the illusion didn't work, then additional fountains were added and pressure increased, which achieved the desired goal. (right)
