Pennsylvania RR - S-1 #6100
The world's larges and heaviest steam locomotive built exclusively for passenger service. Built by the Pennsylvania RR at the Altoona, PA shop. The Pennsylvania Railroad's class S1 comprised a single steam locomotive of 6-4-4-6 wheel arrangement in the Whyte notation, the only locomotive of such arrangement ever constructed. Built in 1939 and retired in 1945.
